The main focus of the seminar is to
gain an understanding of the several treatment techniques through hands-on
working on originals and dummies. First day: Introduction to the history
of the manufacture processes Slide show of various damages found on tracing
papers Introduction to various treatment techniques: Every participant gets
an object on which he/she will practice the following treatments removal
of tapes, water and pressure sensitive; mending of tears with different
adhesives; mending losses with tracing paper; flattening, demonstration
of Hard-Soft-Sandwich. Second day: Every participant will has the opportunity
to practice the following treatments; dyeing of mending paper; lining with
Japanese paper and starch paste; paper pulp application; final discussion.
