EDWARD TYMEWELL and WM. R. SHIER
We have a book - Dacier's translation of Plato, Amsterdam, 1700 - which left
its Edinburgh home at some date after 1742 and before 1877 and has now returned
from Canada. It has the armorial bookplate of "Edward Tymewell" (two states
recorded by Franks) and a rubber stamp "Library of WM. R. SHIER No ---". Can
anybody throw any light on these two collectors?
