The fortune in my Chinese fortune cookie tonight read:
``You will be sharing great news with all the people you love.
[Lucky Numbers 2, 27, 31, 38, 50, 51]''
Well, sort of: herewith, the lucky numbers most on my mind this week.
We sent out the last batch of Rare Book School 1995 YEARBOOKS, just
back from the press, this afternoon: 786 copies of the YEARBOOK mailed
to 561 Friends of the Book Arts Press and to 369 participants in RBS
1995 (with an overlap of 144 between the two groups).
The 1995 YEARBOOK, which contains 420 pages, includes photographs
of about two-thirds of RBS 1995's participants; most of the 315
photographs (many of them of extraordinarily high quality) were taken
by James Davis (UCLA).
The 1995 YEARBOOK features the text of the 1995 Sol. M. Malkin
Lecture in Bibliography, ``Cutting Up Manuscripts for Pleasure and
Profit,'' by Christopher de Hamel of Sotheby's (London). Also included
are the usual RBS yearbook departments: course lists and evaluations,
statistical summaries, address lists, and an index of photographs.
Any copies of the 1995 YEARBOOK remaining after July 1st will be
for sale at $15 per copy, postpaid.
