"From: Andrew Farkas, Director of Libraries, UNF
Linda,
This gentleman is in the same boat as I am, except that as of three weeks ago
I am no longer in my fifties. However, as you well know, I too have a superb
research collection whose sum is far greater than the mere total of its parts,
and I, too, don't trust libraries to treat it as its value (research AND $)
would deserve. I say this as an insider, a librarian who knows libraries. I
can also add that I also don't want to see the collection disassembled for
cash following my predictable and inevitable demise. It is a great dilemma for
all true collectors not in a position to provide for the maintenance of their
collection, be it book, art, artifacts, photographs, or anything else.
I don't know whether this message reaches only you or the listserv too where
the original originated. If so, I am only too glad for it.
Andrew
