Book Theft on Long Island

This message is cross-posted to Exlibris and Archives, and may be posted
elsewhere.

We were alerted yesterday that books from the State University of New York at
Stony Brook Libraries (which is on Long Island) have been offered for sale by
people on Long Island. We are unable to share any further information at
this time, but hope that you will share this information with your friends and
colleagues in the dealer community.

If you have been quoted any unusual materials, we would appreciate a call.
(Books offered will most likely be rare and scarce titles.) Unfortunately,
the campus phone system does not permit us to accept collect calls. If you fax
information, please address it to my attention, extension 2-7119, as faxes are
received in another area of the library.
