The only problem with "sequence slugs" is that it doesn't mean much
unless you know what it means. I would suggest "publisher's printing
code" as a plain-language term that gives the uninitiated at least a
fighting chance at understanding. ("Printer's key" doesn't work,
since it is not something the printer is responsible for.)
If there turns out to be a commonly accepted term in the trade (i.e.,
what publishers' designers and editors use when they need to refer to
it), that term should be used.
